After completing the program, individuals must pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) to become nationally certified. 

Course Objectives 

The Pharmacy Technician Program at Southeastern Health and Wellness Institute is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and professionalism required to excel as pharmacy technicians in a variety of healthcare settings. The program’s objectives include:

  1. Develop Comprehensive Pharmaceutical Knowledge

  1. Master Prescription Processing and Dispensing 
  • Learn to accurately prepare, label, and dispense medications, including understanding prescription requirements, dosage calculations, and safety standards for handling drugs.

  • Cultivate a thorough understanding of federal and state laws, HIPAA regulations, and ethical standards governing pharmacy practices.

Course Objectives

Upon completing the Pharmacy Technician Program at the Southeastern Health and Wellness Institute, students will achieve the following outcomes:

Knowledge-Based Outcomes 

  • Understand Core Concepts: Demonstrate a thorough understanding of pharmaceutical principles, including drug classifications, medical terminology, and dosage calculations. 
  • Pharmacy Law and Ethics: Apply knowledge of federal and state pharmacy regulations, including legal standards and ethical practices in all settings. 
  • Understanding Medication Safety: Learn and follow protocols for ensuring patient safety by identifying and minimizing medication errors.

Technical Skills Outcomes 

  • Prescription Processing: Effectively interpret, process, and prepare prescriptions with precision and attention to detail.
  • Inventory Management Skills: Demonstrate proficiency in managing pharmaceutical inventory, including ordering, receiving, and proper storage of medications.
  • Use of Pharmacy Technology: Operate pharmacy management software and technology tools utilized in modern pharmacy practice.

  • Patient Interaction: Communicate effectively with patients, pharmacists, and healthcare professionals to provide excellent customer service and patient care. 
  • Assist Pharmacists: Confidently support licensed pharmacists by preparing medications and addressing customer questions within the pharmacy technician's scope of practice.

Tuition & Fees

STUDENT agrees to pay the school the tuition and fees for the program selected in advance at the start of the program. The school may, at its option and without notice, prevent student from attending class until any applicable unpaid balance is satisfied. The school may charge a $10.00 transcript fee for requests for transcripts to transfer to another school. The school will charge a registration fee for students transferring to the school and a reentry fee to students who have withdrawn and wish to re enter more than 30 days after termination, of $100.00. The tuition rates current at the time of reentry will apply to the balance of training hours needed for students who re enroll more than 30 days after the formal withdrawal date unless mitigating circumstances apply. The student’s tuition may be paid by cash, check, money order or through Veterans Affairs funds for those who qualify. Textbooks and Kits are supplied the first day of class for all students in attendance. The school must provide to each current student a certified transcript detailing hours obtained, completed, and for which the school has been compensated. The contract must also include: the school will provide the student with a certified transcript of earned hours within ten working days of the student’s withdrawal or graduation provided all contractual agreements have been met. 

Southeastern Health and Wellness Institute makes no claim or guarantee that credit earned will transfer to another institution.

  • A minimum number of 6 students are required per start date - with a maximum of 20 students per start date. The Pharmacy Technician Program start dates will never be moved or changed.

Simply wear professional attire (no jeans) and close-toed shoes on your first day of class – and you will receive your scrubs during your first-day ORIENTATION! Have fun!

Federal Student Aid is financial aid from the federal government to help you pay for education expenses at an eligible college or career school. Grants, loans and work-study are types of federal student aid. You must complete the FAFSA form to apply for this aid.
