To become certified as a sonographer after graduating from the Associate in Applied Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program at Southeastern Health & Wellness Institute, graduates must pass a certification exam administered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), which includes a Sonography Principles & Instrumentation (SPI) exam and a specialty area exam based on their chosen practice area: ABDOMINAL, OBGYN, VASCULAR.

Southeastern Health & Wellness Institute is actively pursuing programmatic accreditation through CAAHEP for our Associate in Applied Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. We have completed and submitted the required documentation and are continuing through the accreditation process.

While SEHWI completes the CAAHEP accreditation process, students can remain confident that there is an established pathway to national credentialing. During this process, SEHWI students are currently approved to pursue the ARRT sonography examination pathway by taking the eligible ARRT examination, providing an additional route toward meeting ARDMS examination eligibility requirements.

Southeastern Health and Wellness Institute and all of its programs, including the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program, are nationally accredited through the Council on Occupational Education (COE).
